The fireplace which is hidden behind this smaller one is one of the oldest in this house, dating back to 1400th century. We have been wanting to keep it, but on the other hand it is right in the middle of the big room... The mason had a good look at it, as we did it too and it seems that it is not so stable... So it has to come down and even if we want to keep it... It has to be rebuild it again...

Our hardworking demolition team started first by taking the stone parts off from the bigger fireplace, these stone parts we can use in an other fireplace later...
Meidän urhea purkaustiimi aloitti kuitenkin alhaalta... ensiksi piti poistaa pienemmän takan koristeelliset kivet, joita voimme myöhemmin käyttää muualla...
So this the fireplace in the bedroom or actually what was left of it after demolishing the front covered with plaster and the wooden parts were carefully removed and we will keep them... Then the stone wall next to the fireplace will come down as well... and as I am writing this I can hear the stones being removed... But that will be the next posting...

The next step was to remove the high chimney from the roof top to the attic floor level...

Removing the clay bricks were easy, these ancient bricks are quite thin and the clay in between them could be removed easily... And they just kept the bricks upstairs and the clay went down by the chimney...
