FIVE ROSES... VIISI RUUSUA...

I asked Gerald to plant five rose bushes along next to the lavender...He did it but it took few days... First he took down a very low stone wall and rebuilt it again... While I was away for a week he made some more landscaping and he had a surprise for me...

Pyysin Geraldia istuttamaan viisi ruusupuskaa laventeleiden vierelle... No hän teki sen, mutta se otti muutaman päivän... Sillä aikaa kun olin viikon poissa oli hän toiminut puutarhirina ja luonut minulle yllätyksen...

When I came back home the five roses has been planted and Gerald had change totally the look of this terrace place... Now we have light on the new built wall and in front of it we have some grapes growing... 3 of them are for wine and the rest is table grapes...

Kun saavuin takaisin kotiin oli koko terassi alue saanut uuden ilmeen ja Gerald oli vihdoinkin istuttanut ne viisi ruusua...Nyt uudelleen rakenettujen kivimuurien päällä on lamput ja muurin edessä kasvaa viiniköynöksiä... 3 niistä on viinin tekoon ja loput ovat syötäviä viinirypäleitä...

The Happy Braai ( name for the barbecue in south Africa) Master... And he was very proud of his new braai, it's made in South Africa...

Onnellinen Braai ( nimi grillille Etelä-Afrikassa) Mestari... Ja Gerald oli hyvin ylpeä uudesta braaista, joka on valmistettu Etelä Afrikassa...

SPRING 2014... KEVÄT 2014

Inside the main house almost everything was finished. So this year we will carry on planting more flowers and finally it was the time for a real vegetable garden... Old stone walls had been replaced and we had call one of our neighbours to help us to turn the soil in the old original Veggie garden that has been left unused over twenty years... The soil is excellent...

Päärakennus on sisältä jo meilkein valmis. Joten tänä vuonna keskittyisimme puutarhanhoitoon istuttamalla lisää kukkivia kasveja ja nyt olisi todellisen kasvispuutarhan aika. Vanhat ränsistyneet kiviaidat oli rakenettu uudelleen ja vanha kasvipuutarha oli nyt saanut uuden ilmeen. Pyysimmekin naapuriamme kääntämään 20 vuotta levossa olleen vanhan kasvipuutarhan maan, jonka multa oli erinomaista. 

I had planted the strawberries already in autumn and now in end of March they were all blooming....

Olin jo syksyllä istuttanut mansikat maahan ja nyt maaliskuun lopulla ne jo kukkivat...

The old vegetable garden had been a jungle for many years... Gerald was still collecting plenty pieces of all kind of roots while Louis was turning the soil with his old tractor...

Vanha kasvipuutarha oli ollut vuosia kuin viidakko... Gerald keräili juurien palasia sitä mukaa kun Louis käänsi maata vanhalla traktorillaan...

Inside I was doing some gardening too... Just adding some fertiliser to the olive tree that we planted in the old septic tank which we found under the floor... 

Sisätiloissa piti myös tehdä puutarhahommia... Minä vain lisäsin lannoitetta oliivipuulle, jonka olimme istuttaneet vanhaan lattian alta löytyneeseen viemärikaivoon...

In the big and small fish pond the frogs, salamanders and fishes got more active...

Suuressa ja pienessä kalalammessa sammakot, salamanterit ja kalat alkoivat elää aktiivisemmin. 

The blooming Syringa trees always takes back to my childhood and to my grand mother garden... When ever I smell the Syringa flowers I can see my granny... One of those memories that comes back by odour...

Kukkivat sireenit vievät minut aina takaisin mammami puutarhaan... Joka kerta kun voin haistaa sireenien kukkia niiden tuoksu tuo minulle mammani kuvan eteeni... Se on yksi niistä muistoista mitä hajuaisti saa aikaan...

FLOWERS, WEEDS AND TINTIN...KUKKIA, RIKKARUOHOJA JA TINTTI...

This year spring came late and most of the June was raining... The garden started to bloom and it was beautiful as every day something new happened...

Kevät oli todella sateinen tänä vuonna ja kesäkuussakin satoi paljon... Puutarha kuitenkin aloitti kukkimaan ja uusia ihanuuksia vautui joka päivä...

...And then with lots of rain we got lots of weeds...

...Ja sade toi myös paljon rikkaruohoja...

Our Citroen 2CV didn't work last summer and we managed to get hold of a local mechanic who could work out what was really wrong with the car... Then ones it was working again we stick these Tintin  stickers at the back and on the bonnet of the car... And Tintin 2cv was born...

Meidän rättisitikka ei toiminut kunnolla viime vuonna ja vihdoinkin keväällä löysimme paikallisen mekaanikon, joka löysi kaikki mahdolliset viat autosta... Heti kun saimme sitikan taas toimimaan liimasimme sen etuosaan ja takaosaan Tintti tarrat ja nyt kuljemme Tintillä...

HAPPY TIMES AND HARD WORK... ONNELLISTA AIKAA JA KOVAA TYÖTÄ...

It has been six month that I haven't post anything on the blog. That doesn't not mean that we have bee lazy... Only the cats has been spending time sleeping in the sun... In between the hard work we have travelled quite a lot as well... We have also enjoyed many visits, friends and family has been visiting us and now that  all the  bed rooms are finished with renovation and bathrooms are working it has been a pleasure to receive all these people in our Yellow house as I call it...

Aikaa on vierähtänyt kuusi kuukautta siitä kun viimeksi olen täydentänyt blogia. Se ei tarkoita sitä etteikö täällä olisi tapahtunut mitään ja olisimme vain laiskoitelleet... Vain kissat ovat viettäneet todellisia kissanpäiviä nukkuen auringossa... Kovan työn lisäksi olemme matkustelleet jonkin verran... Meillä on myös käynyt vieraita, ystäviä ja sukulaisia on ollut kylässä ja mikä mukavinta kun kaikki makuuhuoneet ovat valmiita ja kylpyhuoneetkin toimivat. On ollut todellinen ilo ottaa vastaan kaikki vierailijat tänne meidän Keltaiseen taloon, joksi olen alkanut kutsua kotiamme...

Same time that we had Sylvie, Philippe and Louise visiting and helping us from Paris, we also enjoy few days with our lovely friend from South Africa Maria and her new friend Vic.... So much fun when friends comes and takes over the cooking... Last day Vietnamese fish...

Samaan aikaan kun Sylvie, Philippe ja Louise olivat kylässä Pariisista ja auttoivat meitä puutarhan hoidossa saapui etelä-afrikkalainen hyvä ystävämme Maria ja hänen uusi ystävänsä Vic meille... On aivan ihanaa kun ystävät saapuvat kylään ja vielä päättävät kokota meille... Viimeisenä vielä vietnamilainen kala lounas...

The beginning of the May we had visitors from Finland... Merja (my old friend from school from 33 years ago) and Tarmo her husband left snow in May in Finland and arrived to a rainy and windy Dordogne. But anyway we have time to catch up enjoying good food and wine...

Toukokuun alussa saapui vanha koulukaverini Merja 33 vuoden takaa miehensä Tarmon kanssa meille kylään, jätten lumisen Suomen toukuun ja saapuivat sateiseen ja tuuliseen Dordogneen. Mutta hyvä ruoka ja viini sekä mukavat yhteiset päivät loivat uusia hauskoja hetkiä...

The wood ship storage space needed an upgrade... 

Puuhakkeelle rakennettiin parempi varastotila...

THE BAR & LIVINGROOM... BAARI JA OLOHUONE...

 The bar is part of the huge living area that is in the space which had the old chimney that we demolished... We kept an old stone wall and the bar was built by the company that made our windows too... All the masks are from our African collection that has been stored during six years waiting for a new home...

Baari on osa suurta olohuonetta, jossa oli ennen vanha takka, jonka purimme pois. Säilytimme vanhan kiviseinän ja baarin rakensi sama yritys, joka toimitti meidän ikkunat... Kaikki afrikkalaiset naamiot ovat meidän Afrikan kokoelmasta, joka on ollut pakattuna kuusi vuotta odottaen uutta kotia...

So for the huge living room you need a huge couch and more african masks... One wall still need some paint behind the staircase...

Valtava olohuone vaatii valtavan sohvan ja lisää afrikkalaisia naamioita... Yksi seinä vielää kaipaa maalausta portaiden takana...

SUMMER KITCHEN... KESÄKEITTIÖ...

A small miscalculation on the concrete delivery... And these guys have to finished the work by mixing more concrete until late in the evening...
