AND WHAT IS THIS ALL ABOUT?... JA MITÄHÄN TÄMÄ MERKITSEE?...

So this morning when I left my bedroom, I closed the door and there was a new plastic door on my way and number 22...Hmmm...

Hmmm...

Few meters later there was an other plastic curtain and number and the next door also had a number 20 closed by...Hmmm

Hmmm...

Then I had to show you this... We don't know when, but years ago when they replaced the roof tiles they just forgot to put the top cover tiles and it has been like this, who knows how long... All the rain water had run into the insulation in the roof...

Ja sitten minun piti näyttää teille tämä... Emme tiedä kuinka kauan sitten, mutta todennäköisesti vuosia sitten kun kattoa on korjattu ovat tiilet ehkä loppuneet kesken ja katon kulma osa on jätetty ilman päällimmäistä tiilikerrosta. Joten katto on ollut näin ties kuinka kauan... Kaikki sadevesi on tietenkin virrannut katon lasivillaan...

Then there is this...

Ja sitten on tämä...

Even tagging on the outside walls...
Ok, the plastic curtain keeps the stone dust out of upstairs and the numbers are for the windows... Each number is corresponding a window and before the numbers were on the windows but now most of them has been taken out... Like we don't even have front doors anymore...Open House... Happy Hours...

LATEST FINDINGS... VIIMEISET LÖYDÖT...

When you make a wish... Be specific what you wish... I was reading the other day a lovely decoration magazine and saw there an old lovely garden bench and just was wishing in my mind that I would love to have one of those... Then few hours later Gerald showed me 3 benches... This is number one...

Number two have only beautiful legs and one is broken, but with my wild imagination I can already see a beautiful bench in my garden... You have to imaging the garden too...

This is number three, a very unusual bench or what is left of it... A snake as the leg for the bench, have anybody ever seen something like this... Here in old days they had all kind of believes to bring the good in and keep the bad out, so maybe if you sat on this snake bench the devil didn't want to come and take you... The stone carver told me that they made different carving on the stone to bring good luck and keep the evil out... I just love this unusual piece of art... Just see when it has been renovated...

OUTSIDE WALLS... ULKOSEINÄT...

First the masons will take of all the old wall cover and then they start to fix broken stones...

This morning they delivered some big blogs of stones...White stone is typical for this region...

Tänä aamuna saapui suuria kivipaaleja... Valkoinen kivi on hyvin tyypillistä tällä alueella...

This man is the stone carver... Here he is cutting out the part of the stone that has the metal piece inside that use to hold the wooden shutter...

Here you can see the stone with the metal piece in and it has even been repaired with concrete and that's not good... And when with time, the metal has rust it can also brake the stone...

Here you can see one part of stone that was cut out and the wooden stick will add pressure sideways to the other stones and so it will keep the remaining stones in place... Simply when you know that...

Tässä näkyy ikkunanreunakiveä, josta on leikattu pala pois, puinen laudanpala pitää muut kivet paikoillaan etteivät ne lähde laskeutumaan... Yksinkertaista kun sen osaa...

No this not the snowman cutting ice cubes at the 30 degrees summer day... Here the stone carver is measuring and cutting already the pieces that he will replace...

Colin "painting" an old trailer with some weird mix...

Colin "maalaa" vanhaa peräkärryä joillain oudolla sekoituksella...

...And shit happens...Gerald forgot about the septic tank and the front wheel of the tractor went through the cover...  Luckily the whole wasn't too big and he managed to get out of this smelly bath...
... Paska juttu...

The same trailer few hours later...And the famous artist is Monsieur Gerald...

MAKING SPACE FOR OTHERS... TEEMME TILAA MUILLE...

Last week was quite hectic, it started on monday morning at 8 o'clock when the electricians, the plummers and the masons arrived one after each other...So our work inside the house is over for a while...

Viime viikolla oli aika kova hälinä, kun maanantaina kello 8 alkoi pihaan saapua porukkaa, sähkömiehiä, putkimiehiä, muurareita, yksi toisensa perään... joten meidän työpanos talon sisällä on hetkeksi ohi...

This was a photo before the weekend and then...

Tämä oli ennen viikonloppua...

...Then the orange anti-termite plastic were laid on the gravel...Yes in this area you have a possibility that termites move in to your house too... Normally we are against plastic but this was necessary....

Vaikka ollemmekin plastiikan vastustajia, tämä orannsi muovi on tarpeellinen tällä alueella, se auttaa suojautumaan termiittejä vastaan...

Monday and tuesday electricians and the plummers made sure that everything were ready for the wednesday...

On wednesday at 8 o'clock the first 33 tons concrete truck arrive and then it was just non-stop for the masons to make sure that the first layer of the concrete will be even everywhere... We were lucky that it did not rain because these huge trucks could not get up on the small road coming to this house...

Keskiviikko aamuna kello 8 saapui ensimmäinen 33 tonninen sementtiauto ja siitä alkoi sementin levitys allakerran lattiaan... Onneksi sinä päivänä ei satanut sillä noin painavat kuorma-autot eivät olisi pystyneet nousemaan ylös meidän talolle tulevaa tietä pitkin...

On wednesday this was our only entrance to the living areas of this house...

The previous weekend I made lots of jam with the plums that grow here in a different trees, only things is that they all ripens almost in the same time...And as you can see from the pictures there are so much plums this year, luckily our friends came during the weekend for a visit and we all collected plenty plums for them... So here is all my jam pots upside down cooling, before I took them to the old wine cellar...
